Simón Cárdenas, an eternal doctoral student in Philosophy, makes a living in Seville designing crossword puzzles for a local newspaper while working on his thesis on the "Alonso Quijano Syndrome." One day, on the eve of Holy Week, he receives a strange call urging him to include a word in his next Sunday crossword puzzle that appears to be a coded message. What at first seems like a joke turns out to be connected to a series of acts organized throughout the city to sabotage the festivities and sow chaos in the streets during the early hours. With the help of María, Simón embarks on an investigation to discover who is behind it all. Twenty-five years after the publication of 'Nadie conoce a nadie,' Juan Bonilla has rewritten 'Nadie contra nadie' from scratch, offering readers the definitive version of this story that marked a generation and catapulted him as one of the great promises of contemporary fiction. The result is a completely new novel, full of humor and parodying both detective novels and successful thrillers, as well as high culture and metafiction.

Juan Bonilla is a Spanish writer. He was born in Jerez de la Frontera. He has published several collections of short stories, including Tanta gente sola , and Una manada de ñus(Pre-Textos, 2013). As a novelist, his notable works include Nadie conoce a nadie, which was turned into a successful film by Mateo Gil, and Los príncipes nubios, which won the Premio Biblioteca Breve in 2003. Los príncipes nubios has also been translated into several languages; the French version won the Prix littéraire des Jeunes européens in 2009.
