«Mientras vivimos» is the novel by Maruja Torres, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (286 pages, in Spanish).
Judit, a twenty-year-old young woman, feels an almost morbid admiration for Regina Dalmau, an established novelist she believes capable of recognizing her literary talent and helping her escape the working-class neighbourhood where she grew up. The novel, set between Barcelona and Madrid, weaves together jealousy, lies, hatred and love in a portrait of contemporary Spanish society.
Premio Planeta 2000; eighth edition in hardback with dust jacket, published in 2001.
For readers of contemporary Spanish narrative and literary fiction with an interest in stories about identity and human relationships.
