«Metamorfosis» is Agustín Sánchez Aguilar's adaptation of Ovid's epic poem, published by Vicens Vives in paperback (208 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together a selection of Ovid's Greco-Roman myths, focusing on prodigious transformations: Arachne, who wanted to compete with the gods; Narcissus, captivated by his own image; Tiresias, who knew life as a man and as a woman; and Orpheus, ready to defy death for Eurydice.
Volume 14 of the Adapted Classics collection. The illustrations are by Alan Lee, illustrator of The Lord of the Rings, The Adventures of Ulysses and The Black Ships before Troy.
Intended as reading for secondary education and for young people approaching classical mythology for the first time.
