«Los de abajo» is the novel of the Mexican Revolution by Mariano Azuela, published by Fondo de Cultura Económica in paperback (160 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows Demetrio Macías, a peasant who joins the Mexican Revolution and becomes a general in Pancho Villa's army. Mariano Azuela González was a Mexican writer and medical doctor, best known for his fictional stories of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. He wrote novels, works for theatre and literary criticism.
