«L'illa de l'última veritat» is the novel by Flàvia Company, published by Proa in hardback (144 pages, in Catalan).
A terminally ill doctor, Dr Prendel, decides to confess to his lover a secret that has accompanied him all his life: he suffered a pirate attack, was shipwrecked in the middle of the Atlantic and disappeared from his New York circle for five years. On his return he refused to speak about that experience, and speculation multiplied. Now the lover reconstructs his story in a narrative impossible to put down.
The work belongs to the A TOT VENT collection from Proa and bears the subtitle «Hi ha secrets amb què es pot viure, però amb què no es pot morir».
