«Libro de las Fundaciones» is the spiritual chronicle of Teresa de Jesús, published by Ediciones Cálamo in hardback (248 pages, in Spanish).
The author relates in the first person the journeys, negotiations and stays that allowed her to found numerous convents of Discalced Carmelites. In addition to that chronicle, the work is a testimony to the mentality and daily life of sixteenth-century Spain, written in a simple and elegant Castilian prose, far removed from all artifice.
The edition opens with a prologue by Olvido García Valdés. Santa Teresa de Jesús lived between 1515 and 1582. The edition was published in 2009.
For readers interested in spirituality, religion and social history of the sixteenth century.
