«L'enfant de Guernica» is the historical young adult novel by Guy Jimenes, published by Oskar in paperback (230 pages, in French).
In April 1937, during the bombing of Guernica, young Emilio loses his family. Years later, his daughter Isaura, an archaeology student, takes part in the exhumation of mass graves from the Spanish Civil War. The novel contrasts Emilio's desire to forget with Isaura's need to know, and addresses historical memory.
It belongs to Oskar's «Histoire» collection. With the novel, Guy Jimenes won the Prix des Incorruptibles 2009 (adult vote).
Young adult novel for those seeking an approach to the Spanish Civil War through historical fiction and memory.
