«Le journal de Zlata» is the war diary of Zlata Filipović, published by France Loisirs in French in 1994.
Zlata begins her diary at age eleven in Sarajevo, in a peaceful time of friends, school and music. When war breaks out, her entries, addressed to 'Mimmy', become a testimony of the siege: routine disappears, water and electricity grow scarce, and the family takes refuge in the cellar while the bombings mark her childhood.
The original title of the work, «Zlatin dnevnik», appeared in 1993; this French edition is from 1994.
For readers interested in the historical memory of the Balkans and in war testimonies told by an adolescent voice.
Zlata Filipović is a Bosnian-Irish diarist. She kept a diary from 1991 to 1993 when she was a child living in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, later published as a book.
