«Zlata's Diary: A Child's Life in Sarajevo» is the personal diary of Zlata Filipović about the siege of Sarajevo, published by Viking in hardback (200 pages).
Zlata starts her diary at age eleven, before the war reaches Sarajevo. Soon her life is limited to taking refuge from bombings, with no school, electricity or water, and with friends dead or wounded. Her pages, addressed to «Mimmy», reflect fear, loss and the effort to maintain normality amid the conflict.
The original was published as «Zlatin dnevnik»; this first American edition includes a translation by Christina Pribichevich-Zoric and an introduction by Janine Di Giovanni.
Suitable for reading from age 8 and for those interested in testimonies about the Bosnian war.

Zlata Filipović is a Bosnian-Irish diarist. She kept a diary from 1991 to 1993 when she was a child living in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, later published as a book.
