«Le frère crapaud» is the historical novel by Renaud Chantefable, published by Pocket in paperback (252 pages, in French).
In the 14th century, the dissolution of the Knights Templar by Philip the Fair and Pope Clement unleashes the persecution of the Templars, and their Grand Master Jacques de Molay is executed. However, the knights hide a treasure whose trail can only be followed by a child not yet born; in a castle in Champagne, in autumn 1307, Marie is born alongside her twin brother, a «toad child» considered a bad omen.
«Le frère crapaud» is the first instalment of the series «L'héritière des templiers», published in 2004.
For readers of historical fiction and medieval mysteries surrounding the Knights Templar.
