«Las voces del Pamano» is the contemporary novel by Jaume Cabré, published by Booket in paperback (688 pages, in Spanish).
A teacher named Tina finds in a school in Pallars about to be demolished a handwritten letter in a notebook that never reached its intended recipient. Reading it, she unearths the memory of the Pyrenean valleys and a story of maquis, Falangists and anonymous heroes marked by the postwar period.
In this Spanish edition, the translation from Catalan is by Concha Cardeñoso; the book was published in Booket's Novela collection.
For readers of contemporary fiction and historical novels interested in the memory of war and the postwar period in the Pyrenees.
Jaume Cabré i Fabré is a Catalan philologist, novelist and screenwriter. He was one of the founders of the Catalan literary collective, Ofèlia Dracs.
