«Al morir don Quijote» is the novel by Andrés Trapiello, published by Ediciones Destino in hardback (336 pages, in Spanish).
The story begins with the death of Alonso Quijano, known as Don Quixote of La Mancha, in October 1614, and follows the secondary characters of Cervantes's classic who survive: Sancho Panza, the housekeeper, the niece, the bachelor Sansón Carrasco, among others. Trapiello novelizes their fates intertwined with those of the hidalgo, in a narrative that plays with the boundary between reality and fiction and continues, in a literary key, in the wake of Cervantes's work.
First volume of the Áncora & Delfín collection from Ediciones Destino. The work was recognized with the Premio Fundación José Manuel Lara.

Andrés Trapiello is a noted Spanish poet and writer. He was born in Manzaneda de Torío, León, and studied at the University of Valladolid. He moved to Madrid in 1975, and has lived in the capital ever since.
