In 'Las defensas', Gabi Martínez reconstructs the real story of Doctor Escudero, a neurologist who, after suffering a bout of madness, is admitted to a psychiatric hospital. As he struggles to prove his truth, he confronts the medical community and discovers that he suffers from a neurological disease not yet discovered, a rare autoimmune disease that he himself had investigated. This novel, based on real events, is a story of personal overcoming and a critique of the health system, exploring themes such as corruption and the struggle for medical research.
