«La Storia, tome 2» is the second volume of Elsa Morante's novel, published by Gallimard in paperback, in French.
A choral novel set in Rome between 1941 and 1947, following schoolteacher Ida Ramundo and her son Useppe, a boy with large blue eyes, as war and history devastate their lives and those around them. The work sparked heated debate in Italy and led to the eponymous film by Luigi Comencini starring Claudia Cardinale.
It is the French translation of «La storia», originally published in Italian in 1974, and was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1978 in the translation category.
For readers of historical fiction, Italian literature, and contemporary classics, especially those interested in World War II.
