In 'The Empty Chair,' Lincoln Rhyme, the renowned quadriplegic forensic detective, finds himself at a university center specializing in neurology, awaiting an operation that could improve his condition. However, his tranquility is interrupted when the police of Tanners Corner, a small town in North Carolina, request his collaboration in the search for a kidnapped young woman. Rhyme, along with his colleague Amelia Sachs, will face a troubled kidnapper, fond of insects, whose way of life has made him the prime suspect in strange events and deaths in the city. From an improvised laboratory, Lincoln must use his ingenuity and experience to solve this chilling case before it's too late.
