Benjamin Malaussène is tired of being the scapegoat of the tyrannical literary director of Éditions du Talión, Queen Zabo. In addition, his sister Clara is going to marry Clarence Sain-Hiver, director of a penitentiary. Faced with this situation, he resigns from his job, although not for long. Queen Zabo hires him again because sales of the latest book by the mysterious J. L. B., the publisher's most successful author, are not as expected. They need to give him a face, and that will be Malaussène's. This novel, written in vigorous language and full of humor, was awarded the Inter Prize and was a finalist for the Goncourt.
