The Story of Lucy Gault, a novel by the renowned Irish author William Trevor, immerses us in a tale of isolation and family tragedy on the coast of Ireland. The Gault family, consisting of Captain Gault, his wife Heloise, and their daughter Lucy, faces rejection from the local community due to their alleged sympathy towards the English. Amid this growing hostility, the family plans to move to England, but Lucy's disappearance triggers a series of events that will change their lives forever. As the Gaults embark on a journey through Europe to escape their pain, they are unaware that Lucy's fate will become a legend among the inhabitants of the area.
