«La grande rivière» is the young adult adventure novel by Anne Rossi, published by Magnard in paperback (160 pages, in French).
Grenouille, ostracised in her village for her webbed hands, loses her grandfather, the only person who understood her. After his death, she follows the old man's ashes down the river, hoping to reach the wonderful land he used to tell her about. Along the way she meets Arbas, a boy who is also fleeing, and together they continue the journey on a floating log, where friendship, tolerance and the dangers of the river will test their voyage.
The work was selected for the Prix des Incorruptibles in the CM2/6e category and belongs to the Romans Perles collection (8/12 years).
It is recommended reading for readers aged 10 to 12 looking for stories of adventure, friendship and acceptance of differences.
