«La coscienza di Zeno» is the psychological novel by Italo Svevo, published by Fastbook in paperback (284 pages, in Italian).
In the prologue, Dr. S. announces that he is publishing the memoirs of a patient who abandoned therapy: Zeno Cosini. Zeno reviews his life —tobacco, his relationship with his father, marriage— and shows himself as an incompetent who cannot cling to life. The narrator's irony portrays the hypocrisy and vices of bourgeois society.
First instalment of the «Zeno» series by Italo Svevo, with complete edition edited by Mario Lunetta. The work was originally published in 1923.
For readers of classics of twentieth-century Italian literature and psychological introspective fiction; also common reading in school settings.
