«La araña Ariadna» is the children's story by Pascale Chadenat, published by Almadraba Infantil y Juvenil in paperback (60 pages, in Spanish).
Ariadna, a little orphaned spider, understands why everyone hates spiders: their appearance scares people. She would give anything to look like Siete Puntos, the lovely ladybird, and believes she has found the solution in Doctor Lucanus, the "metamorphoser" who rebuilds ugly insects. The story leaves it in the air whether Ariadna will take a step of no return.
Volume 8 of the Picnic Collection, with illustrations by Delphine Bournay. Translated by Núria Viver from the French original «Arianne l'araignée».
For child readers aged 8 to 10, especially those looking for stories with a message about self-esteem and acceptance of differences.
