K. L. Reich is a novel based on the experiences of the author, Joaquim Amat-Piniella, as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. The story follows Francesc and Emili, two former Republican soldiers captured and deported to Mauthausen, where they face the brutality and inhumanity of the system. Emili struggles to survive by drawing for the SS, offering an inside view of corruption and extermination. Originally published in 1963, this work is a testimony to the memory of the Spaniards interned in the camps and a reflection on the intimate truth of those who lived that terrible experience.
