«José, el judío del Nilo» is the historical novel by Pierre Montlaur, published by Edaf in paperback (288 pages, in Spanish).
The plot takes place in Egypt of the Thirteenth Dynasty and follows Joseph, son of Jacob, sold by his brothers, until he becomes prime minister of Pharaoh Hor. Between legend, myth and history, the narrative combines the administration of the kingdom, the interpretation of dreams and the encounter with Egyptian polytheistic religion.
The Spanish edition came out in 1990 within the collection Grandes novelas de la historia. The original title of the work is Iosseph le juif du Nil.
For readers of historical fiction interested in ancient Egypt and reinterpretations of biblical characters.
