«Hijas de Eva» is the picaresque novel by Manuel Talens, published by Tusquets Editores in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
In 1917, Fausta and Rosilda meet in an orphanage in Valencia, where they have fled from their families. They find it is not the promised refuge and escape. With no money or direction, they have adventures with picaresque characters. It is a novel of sentimental education where breaking with the past is the only path to liberation for women.
Published in April 1997 in the Andanzas collection of Tusquets Editores. The cover reproduces a detail of the oil painting El muro (1985), by Alberto Pancorbo.
For readers of literary fiction and historical fiction, with a story featuring women in Spain in 1917.
