«Fugitivo» is the nature novel by Borja Cardelús, published by Planeta in paperback (158 pages, in Spanish).
«Fugitivo» is narrated by the wolf itself, the protagonist of its story, and shows its complex social world and its struggle to survive in an increasingly hostile environment. Cardelús's prose, rich in rural and hunting terms, portrays the forest and the mountains with their inhabitants —bear, lynx, roe deer, deer, wild boar— and vindicates a wild past that refuses to disappear.
The Planeta edition, published in 1993, includes illustrations by Manuel Sosa. The cover reproduces a photograph of a wolf in a winter landscape.
An enjoyable read for those interested in nature and the wolf, with countryside vocabulary that brings the rural and wild environment closer.
