«Els sots ferèstecs» is the modernist novel by Raimon Casellas, published by Edicions 62 in paperback (208 pages, in Catalan).
Considered the first modernist novel in Catalan literature, the work sits between the symbolism and decadentism of the turn of the century, amid a full political and social crisis. It addresses the failure of an intellectual in his attempt to regenerate society and, at the same time, steers narrative toward the individual, his will and his capacity to act.
The work was originally published in 1901; this edition belongs to the Butxaca collection and was released in Barcelona.
Aimed at readers of literary fiction interested in modernism and in early 20th-century Catalan narrative.
