«El vigilant en el camp de sègol» is the novel by J. D. Salinger, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (336 pages, in Catalan).
Holden Caulfield, a sixteen-year-old teenager who has just been expelled from his boarding school, narrates a few days of his life. His cynical observations about adults and the «farsantes» he encounters portray youthful alienation and the loss of innocence.
The Catalan edition was published in 2003, with a translation by Ernest Riera Arbussà, and is part of the «La Petita Biblioteca» collection. The original title is The Catcher in the Rye.
For readers of classics and coming-of-age fiction; its portrait of adolescence and its critical voice make it a reference work.
