«El sexe dels àngels» is the novel by Terenci Moix, published by Planeta in hardback (550 pages, in Catalan).
After the death of Lleonard, enfant terrible of Catalan literature in the sixties, a conversation in Venice and the testimonies of those who knew him reconstruct his figure. The novel paints a mordant and irreverent portrait of Barcelona's cultural circles, with fictional characters behind whom familiar faces can be guessed.
The work belongs to the Ramon Llull collection (Novel·la series, 39). It won the Premi de Novel·la Catalana Ramon Llull 1992 and the Premi Lletra d'Or 1993, and includes a prologue by Pere Gimferrer.
For those seeking a novel of literary atmosphere, ambiguous characters and an ironic look at the cultural world of the sixties.
Terenci Moix was a Spanish writer, who wrote in the Spanish and in Catalan languages. He was the brother of poet/novelist Ana Maria Moix.
