«El secreto de la modelo extraviada» is the mystery and humour novel by Eduardo Mendoza, published by Booket in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
A detective confined to an asylum relives, more than twenty years later, the murder of a model for which he was unjustly accused in the eighties. His determination to close that case leads him to revisit old settings, characters of dubious reputation and a Barcelona that is no longer the same.
«El secreto de la modelo extraviada», published in 2017, is the fifth novel featuring Eduardo Mendoza's detective and is part of the Biblioteca Eduardo Mendoza collection.
For readers of literary and mystery fiction with humour, especially those already familiar with the detective's previous adventures by Mendoza.
Eduardo Mendoza Garriga is a Spanish novelist, playwright, and essayist. His first novel, La Verdad sobre el Caso Savolta, published in 1975, reflected the social changes as Spain transitioned to democracy, and was very successful. His 1986 novel, La Ciudad de los Prodigios, is widely acclaimed, and he is also known for his "mad detective" parody novels, in particular El Laberinto de las Aceitunas.
