Self-esteem conditions how one acts at work, in love, in sex, or as a parent, and how far one can go in life. Branden explains how to free oneself from guilt and fear of others' disapproval, gain self-confidence, and foster self-esteem in others, especially in children.
The work was originally published in English as Honoring the Self in 1983; this Spanish edition is a translation.
Aimed at self-help and personal development readers interested in how self-esteem influences daily life and how to strengthen self-confidence.

Nathaniel Branden was a Canadian–American psychotherapist and writer known for his work in the psychology of self-esteem. A former associate and romantic partner of Ayn Rand, Branden also played a prominent role in the 1960s in promoting Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Rand and Branden split acrimoniously in 1968, after which Branden focused on developing his own psychological theories and modes of therapy.
