«El Rei Carnestoltes i la Vella Quaresma» is the children's story by Núria Figueras Adell with illustrations by Andrés Cañal, published by La Galera in hardback (24 pages, in Catalan).
In an ordinary town, two neighbours are determined to make each other's lives impossible. Carnestoltes is a stout, mocking, gluttonous character who loves to laugh at everything and everyone; the Vella Quaresma is his neighbour and exactly his opposite. The story follows their constant quarrels and differences with humour, in a children's tale with striking illustrations that capture the attention of young readers.
Part of the Popular collection (number 61), with illustrations by Andrés Cañal. Published in 2003, it is recommended for readers aged 6 to 8.
A tale ideal for early readers who enjoy humour, quarrels between opposite characters and expressive illustrations.
