«El Príncipe» is the political treatise by Nicolás Maquiavelo, published by RBA Coleccionables in hardback (173 pages, in Spanish).
Written in the early 16th century, it analyses the nature of power and how to conquer it. Maquiavelo advises the ruler with realism, attentive to the use of force, cunning and reputation, far from moral ideals. His reflection on the reason of state has made it a classic of political thought.
The volume appeared in 2003 within the series Historia de la Literatura.
Aimed at those interested in political theory, history and classics of thought.
Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was a Florentine diplomat, author, philosopher, and historian who lived during the Italian Renaissance. He is best known for his political treatise The Prince, written around 1513 but not published until 1532, five years after his death. He has often been called the father of modern political philosophy and political science.
