«El Mito Nacionalista» is the essay by Spanish philosopher Fernando Savater, published by Alianza in paperback (64 pages, in Spanish).
Fernando Savater analyses nationalism as an ideological phenomenon: its foundations and its political and social consequences. The work argues that nationalism relies on mythical narratives that can serve to justify exclusion and violence, and calls for critical reflection that makes democratic coexistence possible.
The work addresses nationalism and its presence in the Basque Country; it is part of the Alianza Cien collection (no. 92) and was published by Alianza in 1996.
For readers interested in political philosophy, history and the debate on nationalisms.
