«El maestro y las magas» is the autobiographical novel by Alejandro Jodorowsky, published by Siruela in hardback (296 pages, in Spanish).
The author recounts how the Japanese master Ejo Takata introduced him to zen meditation and koans, but it was a group of women outside Buddhism who taught him to apply those practices. Among the «magas» are the surrealist painter Leonora Carrington, the Mexican actress la Tigresa, Doña Magdalena and Reyna D'Assia, as well as María Sabina or Violeta Parra.
Volume 206 of the Libros del Tiempo collection. First edition published in May 2005.
For those who follow Jodorowsky's work and are interested in zen, Buddhism and the female figures of his spiritual universe.
