«El legado» is the novel by Katherine Webb, published by Lumen in hardback (488 pages, in Spanish).
Erica and Beth Calcott are sisters who could not be more different: Erica is domineering and Beth, fragile and recovering. After inheriting the family mansion on condition that they live together, they spend a Christmas there that awakens their memory and confronts them with a secret nearly a hundred years old, when a desperate woman crossed the Atlantic from the American prairies. The novel alternates present and past to reveal what happened one summer afternoon in both their childhoods.
A work framed by the publisher as a family saga featuring women.
For readers of mystery novels, family drama and historical fiction with a dual timeline.
