«El laboratorio de las almas» is the suspense novel by Frank Tallis, published by Espasa in paperback (344 pages, in Spanish).
In the Paris of 1872, Dr Paul Clément studies the boundary between life and death: convinced that soul and body are united, he uses electric shocks to revive the dead. His ambition leads him to test his method on himself, plunging into a spiral of medicine, occultism and an impossible love.
Work originally published in English as The Forbidden; Spanish translation by Mª Cristina Martín Sanz. Espasa Narrativa collection.
For readers of historical thrillers and suspense who enjoy plots where the occult crosses paths with medicine.
