«El genio alegre. Puebla de las mujeres» is a theatre volume by the Álvarez Quintero brothers, from Espasa-Calpe, in paperback (224 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together two costumbrista comedies by the Álvarez Quintero brothers. «El genio alegre» is a comedy of errors, with humorous situations and lively dialogue; «Puebla de las mujeres» portrays life in an Andalusian village through determined female characters. Both reflect the Spanish society of their time with gentle irony.
Edition by Gregorio Torres Nebrera. «El genio alegre» premiered in 1906 and «Puebla de las mujeres» in 1912.
