«El converso» is the novel by José Manuel Fajardo, published by Círculo de Lectores in 1998, in hardback (398 pages, in Spanish).
In the first half of the 17th century, a Spanish Jewish convert and an English sailor cross the Atlantic from the West Indies towards Europe. Amid wars, boardings and shipwrecks, the sea is a tragic and epic setting, while winds of religious intolerance blow across the Old Continent; chance and lies decide their dream.
For readers of historical fiction and maritime adventure in Spanish, with an interest in the 17th century and the Spain of the conversos.
