«El camino» is the novel by Miguel Delibes, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardback (224 pages, in Spanish).
The story follows Daniel, an eleven-year-old boy who lives in a rural village and must leave for the city to study for his secondary education. The night before leaving, he recalls his life in the village: his friends, his mischief, and the people around him. Delibes thus portrays childhood innocence and the contrast between rural and urban life, in a nostalgic work about loss and the passage of time.
This copy belongs to the illustrated edition from Círculo de Lectores, with illustrations by José Vela Zanetti and a photographic introduction titled «El mundo de Miguel Delibes».
Recommended for readers of classic Spanish fiction seeking a coming-of-age story set in the rural postwar period.
