«Don Quijote de la Mancha» is Cervantes's novel adapted by Vicente Muñoz Puelles (Oxford University Press, paperback, 496 pages, in Spanish).
It narrates the adventures of Alonso Quijano, a hidalgo who, after reading chivalric romances, sets out as a knight-errant accompanied by his squire Sancho Panza. With this novel, Cervantes created a new literary genre and a hero who has inspired later creators; between parody and reflection, it poses the clash between reality and desire.
Published in 2015, it is part of the El Árbol de los Clásicos collection and includes appendices by Ana Alonso and Javier Pelegrín.
Aimed at young readers aged 14 and up, it is supplementary material for secondary-school Language studies.
