«Diario de una niñera» is the novel by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback (448 pages, in Spanish).
The protagonist, a young woman studying in New York, agrees to look after the four-year-old son of a wealthy Park Avenue family. Amid absurd demands and the tension of a life of luxury, the novel, written by two former nannies, portrays with irony the class differences and contradictions of New York high society.
It is the first instalment of the Nanny series and was originally published in English as The Nanny Diaries (2002).
For those seeking a fast-paced novel with social critique and humour, or for readers already familiar with the film adaptation.
