«Der Ritter ohne Socken» is the children's story by Christian Oster, published by Moritz Verlag-GmbH in hardback (58 pages, in German).
A knight wakes up and discovers he has lost his socks. Without them he cannot put on his boots, and without boots he is not in a position to go and free the princess held captive by a dragon. So, first of all, he sets out to look for his socks, and that search leads him down a path as unexpected as it is amusing.
Translation by Tobias Scheffel, with illustrations by Katja Gehrmann. The original French title, «Le chevalier qui cherchait ses chaussettes», was published in 2007.
Aimed at children aged 6 to 8 who are starting to read in German; also suitable for reading aloud.

Christian Oster is a French writer. He has written more than a dozen novels, and he is also a prolific author of children's books. Noted works include My Big Apartment (1999) which won the Prix Médicis, and The Cleaning Woman (2001). The latter was adapted into a film by Claude Berri.
