«Del amor y otros demonios» is the novel by Gabriel García Márquez, published by Plaza & Janés in paperback (170 pages, in Spanish).
Set in an eighteenth-century South American port city, it tells the story of Sierva María, a twelve-year-old girl bitten by a rabid dog, and of Cayetano Delaura, the priest sent to exorcise her. The encounter between them leads to an impossible love that defies the social and religious conventions of the time, in a work with elements of magical realism and a denunciation of superstition.
Recommended for readers of Latin American literature and fans of Gabriel García Márquez, as well as for those seeking a tragic love story.

Gabriel José García Márquez was a Colombian writer and journalist, known affectionately as Gabo or Gabito throughout Latin America. Considered one of the most significant authors of the 20th century, particularly in the Spanish language, he was awarded the 1972 Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature. He pursued a self-directed education that resulted in leaving law school for a career in journalism. From early on he showed no inhibitions in his criticism of Colombian and foreign politics. In 1958, he married Mercedes Barcha Pardo; they had two sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo.
