«Dafnis i Cloe» is the Greek novel by Longus, published by Edicions Tres i Quatre in paperback (120 pages, in Catalan).
Set in an idyllic rural landscape, the novel follows two foundlings raised by shepherds who grow up together tending the flocks. Daphnis and Chloe discover love without knowing how to name it, and a succession of adventures, cattle raids and rivals puts their bond to the test. Eros, love, finally prevails after the trials, and the protagonists discover that their relationship is as deep as that of the gods.
The back cover places the work in the 3rd century AD and the edition is part of the Llibres Clau collection from Edicions Tres i Quatre.
Aimed at literature students and those who want to read a Greek classic in a Catalan edition.
Longus, sometimes Longos, was the author of an ancient Greek novel or romance, Daphnis and Chloe. Nothing is known of his life; it is assumed that he lived on the isle of Lesbos during the 2nd century AD.
