This book with such a suggestive title collects twelve stories by three masters of narration whose work has been recognized for its great quality both inside and outside their country of origin. It is not the first time that Juan Pedro Aparicio, Luis Mateo Díez and José María Merino have published a book together. The stories that the reader will find have in common the Leonese setting as a space for evoking times where childhood transforms what has been lived into mythical or the experience of a gray period, without incentives such as the Spanish post-war period is enriched with fabulation, stories, popular beliefs, juvenile utopias. The memory of the adult narrator invents and recreates the amazement of those who accept the extraordinary or of those who suffer the disappointment and pain of an era in which the wounds of war have not yet healed.

José María Merino is a Spanish novelist born in A Coruña, Galicia on 5 March 1941. He is the father of two daughters, María and Ana, both of them university professors.
