«Cosmofobia» is the novel by Lucía Etxebarria published by 10-18 in 2008 in French paperback edition (411 pages).
Lavapiés, a working-class neighbourhood of Madrid where several cultures coexist, is the setting for this choral story: a broke call-centre operator, a drug dealer, a vegetarian educator, an undocumented immigrant and a hyperactive child cross paths, love each other and lose sight of one another in a vivid and tender portrait of a plural and fragmented society.
Translated from Spanish into French by Maïder Lafourcade and Nicolas Véron. Part of the 'Domaine étranger' collection; the original work was published in 2007.
For readers of contemporary fiction who enjoy choral stories about urban and multicultural coexistence.
