«Capitana Rosalie» is the children's picture book by Timothée de Fombelle, published by Animallibres in hardback (64 pages, in Catalan).
In the middle of the First World War, five-year-old Rosalie imagines herself as a captain with a very secret mission: to learn to read. Her mother reads aloud the letters her father sends from the front, and the girl gradually recognises letters and words until she can read by herself. Then comes the moment to face the truth.
Fourth volume in the L'Arca collection, with illustrations by Isabelle Arsenault, translated from French by Marc Donat Balcells.
For children aged 5 to 8 who are starting to read alone, and to share as a family as a first introduction to the First World War.
Timothée de Fombelle is a French author and playwright.
