«California 83» is the humorous novel by Pepe Colubi, published by Espasa in paperback (368 pages, in Spanish).
In 1983, Pipi, a seventeen-year-old teenager and the author's alter ego, leaves Madrid to study for his university entrance year in California. He experiences a culture clash between high school, surfing, MTV, and concerts by Police or The Clash, in a comedy that blends American teen cinema with Spanish humour.
It is Pepe Colubi's first novel and belongs to the Espasa Narrativa collection; it was published on 13 May 2008.
For readers who enjoy comedy, culture clash, and references to 1980s pop culture.
