«California 83» is the humour novel by Pepe Colubi, published by Booket in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
Pipi, a seventeen-year-old from Madrid, arrives in California in 1983 to study COU with a Methodist family. His image of the United States, forged by films and TV series, clashes with reality: many channels, rock and freedoms. He must learn English, adapt to a different routine and live with his pathological aversion to looking ridiculous.
Published on 1 March 2012 by Booket in the Novela collection. The cover reproduces a photograph of a dog on a surfboard on a beach.
For readers looking for a generational comedy about the cultural clash between the Spain and California of the 1980s.
