«Baix continu» is the short story anthology by Jaume Cabré, published by Proa in paperback (192 pages, in Catalan).
Six stories linked by music: their protagonists are composers, performers, musicologists, instrument makers and music students who move in settings with musical connotations, listening to Schubert lieder, Bach chorales and Alban Berg concertos. Cabré composes music with words, with a manifest concern for style.
The work belongs to the Les Eines collection from Proa and was published in 2007.
Jaume Cabré i Fabré is a Catalan philologist, novelist and screenwriter. He was one of the founders of the Catalan literary collective, Ofèlia Dracs.
