«Llibre de les bèsties» is a young-adult adaptation of Ramon Llull's fables, published by Barcanova in paperback (80 pages, in Catalan).
Animals mirror human behaviour: once the lion is chosen as king, the fox weaves deceptions to seize power. It is the fable Ramon Llull included in Fèlix o Llibre de meravelles over seven hundred years ago, presented in an adaptation into modern Catalan.
The original work dates from 1288. The 2016 edition is adapted by Muntsa Farré and illustrated by Gisela Bombilà, in the Clàssics a mida collection.
Aimed at young people aged 12 and over, it serves as a school introduction to the classics of Catalan literature.

Ramon Llull, sometimes anglicized as Raymond Lully, was a Catholic philosopher, theologian, poet, missionary, apologist and former knight, born in Palma de Mallorca. He invented a philosophical system known as the Art, conceived as a type of universal logic to prove the truth of Christian doctrine to interlocutors of all faiths and nationalities. The Art consists of a set of general principles and combinatorial operations. It is illustrated with diagrams.
